  Green Awareness

Green Rally project (1989-present)
Creating environmental awareness in the hearts of urban dwellers, such as Bangkokians is indeed, a difficult task. However, when the first Green Rally to Chiang Mai took place in 1989 a solution to such difficulty was found. Travelling by car along specially designed routes to different parts of the country, this annual trip gives participating families opportunities to take part in various activities and tree planting events with the local people. With a total number of 23 trips, the foundation has more than 58,000 members who participated in at least one of the Green Rallies. We have planted more than 500,000 trees all over Thailand, and the number continues to rise.

Green Youth Camps (1990-present)
To instill awareness of the need for forest conservation and reforestation in Thai youths, the foundation annually organizes three-four day environmental camp in the countryside of Thailand. Students from urban environments join their country friends in programs which give them opportunities to learn about theory and practice of forestry as well as how to live with others and how to rationally express themselves. These camps have required the ready cooperation of the Education Department, and the support of the Border Police, the Army and the Navy on various occasions. In all, 33 camps have been held which involved over 5,000 students and 600 teachers.

Green Villanges/Tambons project (1991-present)
The foundation with the support of the Community Development Department and the Ministry of Interior initiated this project in order to promote tree planting in villages for benefits of the community. Each year 75 villages of Tambons from 75 provinces, which have been exceptional at tree planting and tree conservation, receive Green Village prizes in recognition of their devotion and commitment for the environment. The Foundation gives out money prizes with the hope that villagers will use them to set up plant nurseries in their villages. Plant nursery will provide villagers with cash-plants and serve as a source of knowledge for the community. The Foundation has given out Green Village prizes to 55 villages and 575 Tambons since 1993.

Forestry education for the public (1997)
The foundation has always realized the importance of education to environmental development. Therefore in 1997 the foundation together with related organizations held 7 activity-based conferences on forestry in Thailand for the general public. The conferences should sufficiently provide participants with knowledge to educate others in their communities as well as to carry out what they had learnt in their own areas. Texts and handbooks were also made by participated organizations fore future usage in related fields. There were a total of 400 participants from all over Thailand.
Apart from tree planting projects Rajapruek Institute Foundation also reaches out to the public through radio, television and printed medias. Through these means, the Foundation hopes to plant environmental awareness deep in the hearts of all Thai people because every single hand is needed to protect our precious environment.
